We are called as God’s people, and we are each called individually. But what is it that we are called to?

I always come back to something I read in the Os Guinness book, ‘The Call’: “…we are not called to something or somewhere, we are called to Someone.“

When I think about that truth, I picture a child playing in the backyard on a sunny day, and a father coming outside through the back screen door of the house into the yard, opening his arms and calling to his child by name.

The child stops playing, turns his head to his father’s voice, and runs joyously across the yard straight into his father’s arms.

And I see my whole life as running across the yard into my Father’s arms. That’s what we’re called to.

What you do in life isn’t as important as who you are in life.

You can have the desire and talent to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a plumber, or a dancer, or an engineer, or whatever, but your career or job isn’t really your calling. Your calling is to Him.

Your life is a journey. It’s not a dead end, it’s a race across the years God is giving you and it will end up with you leaping into His loving arms. Hold that picture in your mind’s eye every day.

Watchdog Alert: Culture Versus Truth

The headlines keep proving the same point: America doesn’t have a noise problem—it has a truth problem.

Every day it’s something new—identity debates, speech battles, moral lines being redrawn in real time. What was obvious five years ago is now “controversial.” What was stable is now negotiable. Culture isn’t just shifting. It’s untethered.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” — Isaiah 5:20

That’s not ancient history—that’s today’s news cycle.

We’re watching a society try to function without fixed truth. And it doesn’t work. It can’t work. Because when truth becomes personal preference, reality starts breaking down. So people get louder. More aggressive. More defensive.

Because deep down, everyone knows something’s off.

Here’s the difference: culture chases approval—truth confronts reality. Our Lord didn’t adjust truth to fit the crowd. He stood on it, even when it cost Him everything.

So What?

And that’s where this lands for us. We don’t need to win arguments online. We don’t need to out-shout the culture. We need to be anchored.

Because when everything around us shifts, the only thing that keeps us standing is something that doesn’t. Truth isn’t evolving. It’s been established.

If our beliefs change with the culture, they were never built on truth to begin with.

Israeli forces conducted a cross-border operation in southern Lebanon, capturing a local militant allied with Hamas. Separately, an Israeli drone strike in the region killed three people, including a child, amid continuing hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border — highlighting ongoing tension with Hezbollah and allied groups following the 2023–24 conflicts. U.S. issues new guidance for ships near the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. government issued updated navigation guidance for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint for oil exports, urging caution amid rising tensions with Iran. The advisory follows several confrontational incidents between Iranian forces and commercial vessels, even as diplomatic talks continue with Tehran. Reuters

Iranian authorities detained at least four senior reform-minded political figures, accusing them of plotting to undermine the government. Suspect in Palm Springs fertility clinic bombing identified

From CNN – The person killed in the Saturday bomb explosion outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, is a 25-year-old from Twentynine Palms, the FBI said Sunday.

“The subject had nihilistic ideations,” Akil Davis, the FBI’s assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles field office, said at a Sunday news conference. “This was a targeted attack against the IVF facility.”

“We are fairly confident that Mr. Bartkus is our primary subject, our primary suspect, a person of interest,” he said, adding that the suspect was not previously known to the FBI. Authorities identified Bartkus’ “nihilistic” beliefs through “some of the posts that he’s made online, some of the comments made in his manifesto that we’re combing through right now,” Davis said.

Israel has launched “extensive” new ground operations in Gaza

From The Times of Israel – The Israel Defense Force announced Sunday that it has begun “broad” ground operations in several areas of the Gaza Strip, as part of the opening phase of a new major offensive. Palestinian officials reported more than 100 people killed over the past 24 hours in Israeli strikes.

“Over the past day, IDF troops in the Southern Command, both the standing army and reserves, began a broad ground operation throughout the northern and southern Gaza Strip, as part of the start of Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” the military said in a statement.
